FoxESS H3-15.0-Smart 15kW15kW three-phase high-voltage hybrid inverter, 3 MPPT

Overview

The H3-15.0-Smart is the largest model of the series: 15kW and 16.5kVA on three phases, up to 30kWp of PV on three trackers of 10kW each, and a 50A high-voltage battery port. Full AC power from the battery needs at least 310V, so pair it with 384V-class storage. The EPS output supplies 15kVA to backup loads. With 25A maximum per phase it suits larger three-phase homes and small businesses; up to ten units can run in parallel.

How it works

These inverters combine a three-phase PV inverter, a bidirectional battery converter and a backup output in one wall-mounted unit. PV strings feed three MPP trackers of 20A each between 120V and 950V; the high-voltage lithium battery connects to a 100–800V port at up to 50A and talks to the inverter over CAN. One manual covers the H3 Smart models, the AC-coupled AC3 Smart and the P3-SH models, which share the same ratings except for the two-tracker P3-5.0-SH and P3-6.0-SH.

Operating modes include self-use, feed-in priority, backup, peak shaving with an import limit, a power-station smoothing mode and time-based scheduling with grid charging windows. With the supplied meter, output can follow the load on each phase or be split evenly across the three phases.

Key features

Maximum PV array power is 200–233% of rated output depending on the model, and each tracker accepts up to 10kW. The EPS port supplies the inverter's rated power to backup loads, with a 60-second peak of 120% on all sizes except 15kW, and a dry contact can drop a second group of loads when battery SOC falls below a set threshold. Smaller models are convection-cooled at under 40dB; 12kW and 15kW use fans.

Installation and compatibility

The 600×450×226mm, 34kg unit is wall-mounted indoors or outdoors under IP65, out of direct sun and rain, with at least 100mm free at the sides and 300mm above and below. FoxESS specifies an AC micro-breaker of 20A for 5–6kW, 25A for 8–10kW and 32A for 12–15kW, with 6mm² cable for 8kW and above, and 6mm² for the battery. The inverter needs at least 100V from the battery; full AC power requires a higher minimum, 160V on 8kW and 310V on 15kW.

FoxESS's TÜV CEI 0-21 certificate for H3 Smart and AC3 Smart lists combinations with EP5, EP6 Plus, EP11, EP12 Plus, EQ4800, EQ6000 Plus and ECS batteries. For Germany the inverter offers ripple control receiver (RCR) inputs used with the VDE 4105 setting.

Monitoring and settings

The WiLAN interface provides Wi-Fi, LAN and Bluetooth, with optional 4G, for the FoxCloud 2.0 app and web portal, where modes, schedules, export limits and battery warm-up are configured. Further interfaces cover RS485 for an EMS, DRM and ripple control, SG Ready for heat pumps and USB for firmware. Parallel systems need units of the same type and software version, each with its own battery when backup is used.
