Overview

IVGM8KLP1G1 is the most powerful model of the IVGM5~8kW-P1G1 series: a single-phase hybrid inverter delivering 8kW to backup loads and up to 8.8kW to the grid side. On the 48V battery it charges and discharges at up to 190A, or 8kW. Two MPP trackers of 26A, each with two strings, accept up to 12kW of recommended PV power with a 500V limit. The manual specifies a 250A battery breaker, and several units can be paralleled for larger or three-phase systems.

  • 5–8kW single-phase backup output, 220/230V
  • 48V battery input, 40–60V, up to 190A
  • Two MPPT, four PV strings, 500V maximum
  • Off-grid transfer in less than 10ms
  • Parallel in single-, split- or three-phase systems
  • IP65, 3.5-inch touch screen, 10-year warranty

How it works

The IVGM5~8kW-P1G1 series is a single-phase hybrid inverter that combines MPPT solar charging, battery charging and a bidirectional inverter. Its GRID port works like a grid-tied inverter for the household supply, the LOAD port powers essential circuits and the GEN port takes a generator. During a grid failure the essential loads move to battery and PV power in less than 10ms.

The battery bus is low voltage, 40–60V, for 48V lithium-ion or lead-acid banks. Lithium batteries communicate over CAN or RS485 and are managed by state of charge; the inverter selects charge settings by self-adaption to the BMS. Lead-acid batteries use voltage-based settings and an NTC sensor supplied in the box.

Key features

Four PV inputs on two MPP trackers cover a 120–425V MPPT window with a 500V maximum input, and the PV array may be up to 1.5 times the rated power. The 7.6kW and 8kW models allow 190A of battery current, the 5kW and 6kW models 120A and 135A. The manual gives 97.6% maximum efficiency, 97% European efficiency and noise below 35dB. Work modes include Time of Use, Selling First and two zero-export options.

Installation and compatibility

The 33.5kg inverter mounts on a non-combustible wall with 500mm of space at each side and 450mm above and below, sheltered from direct sun, rain and snow, up to 2000m altitude. The manual calls for an external battery breaker of 150A on the 5–6kW models and 250A on the 7.6–8kW models, plus 63A AC breakers on the grid side and 40A on backup and GEN.

Certificates published for the series cover EN 50549-1 with EN 50549-10, G99/G100, NRS 097-2-1, the Spanish NTS and UNE 217001/217002 requirements and IEC 61727/62116. The datasheet lists further grid codes, including VDE-AR-N 4105 and CEI 0-21, as in progress. Units can be paralleled in single-phase, split-phase or three-phase configurations; the product page states up to 10 units.

Monitoring and settings

Parameters are set on a 3.5-inch LCD touch screen, with LED indicators for status. A Wi-Fi or GPRS module links the inverter to the Fsolar cloud platform and app. Export can be limited with a CT or meter, and the GEN port can alternatively be programmed as a smart-load output or as an input for microinverters, with a dry contact to start a generator.

Questions and answers

Can the IVGM8KLP1G1 be used in a three-phase house?

Several units can be paralleled to build a three-phase system, according to the manual, which shows single-phase, split-phase and three-phase parallel diagrams. A single unit supplies one phase.

Which batteries are compatible?

48V lithium-ion batteries communicating over CAN or RS485 with a protocol supported by the inverter, or lead-acid batteries, within a 40–60V window.

Is it certified for CEI 0-21 or VDE-AR-N 4105?

The datasheet lists these grid codes as in progress. Published certificates currently cover EN 50549-1/-10, G99/G100, NRS 097-2-1 and the Spanish NTS/UNE requirements.

How much PV can be connected?

The recommended maximum is 1.5 times the rated power, for example 12kW on the 8kW model, with a 500V string limit.
