Overview

IVGM12KLP3G1 is the 12kW model of the IVGM10~20kW-P3G1 series: a three-phase 230/400V hybrid inverter working with a 48V battery bank at up to 240A of charge and discharge current. Its two MPP trackers take 26A each and up to 18kW of PV power, with full-load MPPT operation from 347V to 800V. The essential-load output switches over in under 10ms, the grid pass-through is rated 45A, and the manual specifies a 250A battery breaker and 63A AC breakers.

How it works

The IVGM10~20kW-P3G1 series combines a PV charger, a battery charger and a bidirectional three-phase inverter in one wall-mounted unit. It has three AC terminal blocks: GRID for the utility connection and non-essential loads, LOAD for essential circuits that stay powered during an outage, and GEN for a generator. When the grid fails the essential loads are switched to battery and PV supply in under 10ms.

The battery side works at low voltage (40–60V), so the inverter pairs with 48V lithium or lead-acid banks. Lithium batteries are managed by state of charge over a closed-loop RS485 or CAN link, with the protocol chosen from Felicitysolar's approved battery list. Lead-acid banks use voltage-based settings, a three-stage charge with optional equalisation and an external temperature sensor.

Key features

All seven models share 800V maximum PV voltage, a 160–650V MPPT range and two trackers with two strings each; the 14–20kW versions accept 36A per tracker, the 10kW and 12kW versions 26A. The PV array may be oversized up to 1.6 times rated power. Off-grid, the output supports twice rated power for 10s and up to 100% unbalanced load across the three phases. Maximum efficiency is 98%, European efficiency 97.1%.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter weighs 48.7kg and hangs on a bracket fixed to a vertical concrete or other non-combustible wall, sheltered from direct sun, rain and snow, with 500mm side and 450mm top and bottom clearance. A separate DC breaker is required between battery and inverter: 250A for 10–12kW, 300A for 14–16kW and 400A for 18–20kW. Recommended AC breakers are 63A for 10–12kW and 100A for the larger models. An external RCD, if fitted, must be type A rated 80mA or more.

Grid certificates published by the manufacturer cover EN 50549-1 and VDE-AR-N 4105. Up to 10 units can run in parallel using the supplied CAN parallel cable, with the end-of-line DIP switch set on the first and last inverter. The box also contains the wall bracket, PV connectors, ferrite rings for the battery, AC and communication cables, and either three CTs or a meter.

Monitoring and settings

Settings are made on the LCD touch screen: battery type and currents, Time of Use, Selling First, Zero Export to Grid Port or Zero Export to CT with the three supplied CTs or an optional RS485 meter. The GEN port can also be programmed as a smart-load output or as an AC input for microinverters. An optional Wi-Fi or 4G logger connects the inverter to the Fsolar cloud platform and app.
