This S51280 listing is the STACK280 module with the optional heating function, which lets the battery accept charge from -20°C instead of 0°C, useful in unheated technical rooms. The module itself has 16 lithium iron phosphate cells of 280Ah for 51.2V and 14.336kWh, 13.619kWh usable at 95% depth of discharge. It charges and discharges at up to 200A (10.24kW), 140A recommended, and has its own aerosol extinguisher. Three to fifteen modules form a 43–215.04kWh cluster under an SBDU200 controller. Each module is 770×425mm, 110kg and IP20, for indoor rooms.
STACK280 is the larger sibling of STACK100, using 280Ah lithium iron phosphate cells. Each S51280 module has 16 cells for 51.2V and 14.336kWh, of which 13.619kWh is usable at 95% depth of discharge. Three to fifteen modules are stacked on a base under the SBDU200 control unit, forming clusters of 43kWh to 215.04kWh that operate between 134.4V and 864V. Power and signal connect through the stack itself, without cables between modules.
The recommended rate is 0.5C (140A, 7.168kW per module) and the maximum continuous rate 0.7C (200A, 10.24kW per module), with 280A for two minutes at 25°C. Each module carries its own aerosol extinguisher, which Dyness says acts within five seconds, and the system is fan-cooled. Dyness rates at least 8,000 cycles at 0.2C and 25°C to 70% end of life and gives a 10-year warranty. Heating for charging from -20°C is available as an option.
STACK280 is IP20 and goes indoors. Modules weigh 110kg each, so the manual asks for at least two people and preferably a crane, and for a check of floor loading on upper storeys. One column of eight modules plus the SBDU200 is about 2,208mm high and needs 450mm free above it; larger clusters are split into two columns with an expansion base.
Up to 12 clusters run in parallel if their voltages are within 20V, all are fully charged and they are less than three years apart in age. Dyness lists Solis, Sosen, Solinteg, ATESS, Megarevo and Deye among compatible inverter brands.
The control unit has a built-in Wi-Fi module for the Dyness app and over-the-air updates, and talks to the inverter over CAN or RS485. For parallel clusters, only the cable labelled CAN may be used for communication. Datasheet certifications are UN38.3, CE-EMC and IEC 62619.
One cluster holds 3 to 15 modules, 43kWh to 215.04kWh. Up to 12 clusters can be paralleled, about 2.58MWh in total.
Each S51280 module weighs 110kg; the datasheet gives the cluster weight as 38kg plus 110kg per module, so a three-module cluster is about 368kg. Floor loading must be checked, especially on upper floors.
Yes, heating is an option. With it the charge range extends to -20°C; without it charging is allowed from 0°C. Discharge works from -20°C.
Up to 200A continuous (10.24kW) and 280A for two minutes at 25°C. The recommended operating point is 140A, 7.168kW per module.
