Overview

SUN-20K-SG01HP3-EU-AM2 is a 20kW three-phase hybrid inverter with 22kVA maximum output, working with 160–700V lithium batteries at up to 37A. Both MPP trackers take two strings at 26A, so up to 40kW of PV access power and 32kW of input power can be connected at up to 1000V. It suits commercial buildings and large homes, alone or in parallel systems of up to 10 identical units.

How it works

The SG01HP3-EU-AM2 series combines a three-phase PV inverter, a high-voltage battery charger and a backup supply in one transformerless IP65 unit. It works with lithium-ion batteries from 160 to 700V that communicate with it over CAN or RS485, at up to 30A (5–6kW), 37A (8–20kW) or 50A (25kW). High battery voltage keeps currents low, so battery cables of only 6 to 10mm² are needed.

Two MPP trackers accept up to 1000V and track between 150 and 850V; depending on size, each tracker takes one or two strings at 20A or 26A. On the AC side the inverter supplies 230/400V three-phase power, passes up to 80A from grid to loads and, off-grid, delivers 1.5 times its rated power for 10 seconds. Output may be fully unbalanced across the phases.

Key features

Six time periods set when the battery charges and discharges, and the work modes Selling First, Zero Export to Load and Zero Export to CT control export. The GEN port accepts a diesel generator, serves as a smart load output or connects existing on-grid inverters by AC coupling. Further I/O includes a G-start contact for generator start, a dry contact that signals island mode, a 12V RSD output with shutdown input, and a DRM port.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter weighs 30.5kg and measures 408×638×237mm. Mount it on a solid wall up to 2000m altitude, with about 50cm free around it and at least 100cm in front. Deye recommends 50A grid and backup breakers for 5–10kW and 100A for 12–25kW, plus a DC protection device on the battery line. Three 100A/50mA CTs are supplied; with CT cables over 10m a CHINT or Eastron smart meter is recommended.

Up to 10 inverters of the same model can be paralleled, each with its own lithium battery from Deye's approved battery list; lead-acid and no-battery modes are not supported in parallel, and the Zero Export to CT mode is required. The datasheet lists IEC 61727, IEC 62116, CEI 0-21, EN 50549, RD 140, UNE 217002, OVE-Richtlinie R25, G99 and VDE-AR-N 4105, and Deye publishes a CEI 0-21 certificate for the series.

Monitoring and settings

Setup runs on the LCD: battery parameters, work modes and time-of-use, grid standard, GEN port use and parallel addressing. Monitoring options are GPRS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or 4G loggers, which plug into the logger interface and report to Deye Cloud; the logger is optional. The 5 and 6kW models are naturally cooled, the larger sizes fan-cooled. The warranty is 5 years, extendable to 10 years depending on the country.
