Overview

SUN-12K-SG02LP1-EU-AM3 is the most powerful model of this single-phase range: 12kW rated, 13.2kVA maximum and up to 250A of charge and discharge on a 48V battery. Its three MPP trackers take two strings each at 26A, for up to 24kW of PV access power and 19.2kW of input power. Deye recommends 100A grid and backup breakers and a 300A battery DC breaker; up to 16 units can be paralleled, also as a three-phase system.

  • 7.6–12kW single-phase, 48V battery (40–60V)
  • Up to 250A charge and discharge current
  • 2 MPPT (AM2) or 3 MPPT (AM3), 26A each
  • 2× rated power for 10s off-grid
  • Up to 16 units in parallel, also three-phase
  • Colour touch LCD, IP65, <45dB

How it works

These single-phase hybrid inverters run PV, a 48V battery, the grid, backup loads and a generator from one unit. The battery input accepts lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries between 40 and 60V, with charge and discharge up to 190A on the 7.6 and 8kW AM2 models, 220A on the 10kW and 250A on the 12kW AM3 model. With lithium batteries the charge profile follows the BMS, and the battery side is transformer-isolated.

The PV input is a low-voltage design: 500V maximum, 125V start-up and a 150–425V MPPT range. AM2 models have two MPP trackers and AM3 models three, each taking two strings at 26A. Off-grid the inverter delivers twice its rated power for 10 seconds; grid-to-load pass-through is 50A (AM2) or 60A (AM3) on a 220/230V single-phase connection.

Key features

Six time periods control battery charging and discharging, and the work modes Selling First, Zero Export to Load and Zero Export to CT manage export. The GEN port accepts a diesel generator, supplies a smart load or connects existing on-grid inverters by AC coupling. Up to 16 units can work in parallel on-grid or off-grid, either on one phase or arranged as a three-phase system.

Installation and compatibility

Mount the IP65 inverter (420×670×233mm, 35.6kg) on a solid wall at up to 2000m, keeping about 50cm free at the sides and above and below, and 100cm in front. Deye recommends 63A AC breakers on the grid and backup ports for 7.6/8kW and 100A for 10/12kW, a 300A DC breaker for 10/12kW batteries and 35mm² battery cable. Export control uses the supplied CT on the grid live wire or an Eastron SDM230 meter.

Parallel systems must run in Zero Export to CT mode. The datasheet lists IEC 61727, IEC 62116, CEI 0-21, EN 50549, NRS 097, RD 140, UNE 217002, OVE-Richtlinie R25, G99 and VDE-AR-N 4105, and Deye publishes certificates for the AM3 versions, including IEC 63027 for arc-fault detection. AFCI is optional.

Monitoring and settings

Settings are made on the colour touch LCD: battery type and limits, time-of-use, work mode, grid code and GEN port function. Communication interfaces are Wi-Fi, RS485 and CAN, and Deye Cloud provides remote monitoring with a Wi-Fi logger. Noise stays below 45dB with intelligent air cooling, and the operating range is -40 to 60°C with derating above 45°C. The warranty is 5 years, extendable to 10 years depending on the country.

Questions and answers

What is the difference between AM2 and AM3?

The 7.6 and 8kW models (AM2) have two MPP trackers and 50A pass-through; the 10 and 12kW models (AM3) have three MPP trackers and 60A pass-through. All take two strings of up to 26A per tracker.

Can these single-phase inverters build a three-phase system?

Yes. The manual shows three-phase parallel configurations, and up to 16 units can work in parallel on-grid or off-grid.

What PV string voltage do I need?

The PV input is limited to 500V with a 150–425V MPPT range and 125V start-up voltage, so strings are shorter than on high-voltage string inverters.

Which batteries are supported?

48V lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries in the 40–60V range; lithium batteries communicate with the inverter through the BMS port.
