Overview

SUN-12K-SG01HP3-EU-DM2 is the largest DM2 model: 12kW rated and 13.2kVA maximum on a three-phase grid, in the same 24kg housing as the smaller sizes but with intelligent air cooling. It charges and discharges 160–700V lithium batteries at up to 37A and takes up to 24kW of PV access power (19.2kW input) on two 18A MPP trackers with one string each. Deye recommends 50A grid and backup breakers for this size.

  • 5–12kW three-phase, 160–700V lithium battery
  • 37A charge and discharge on every model
  • 24kg, 376×470×244.5mm, ≤45dB
  • 2 MPPT, 18A each, 1000V max.
  • Natural cooling up to 10kW
  • Up to 10 units in parallel, on- or off-grid

How it works

The DM2 models are compact three-phase hybrid inverters for high-voltage lithium batteries between 160 and 700V. They combine PV inverter, battery charger, grid connection, backup output and generator input in an IP65 transformerless housing of 24kg. Every size charges and discharges at up to 37A, and the battery limits come from the BMS over CAN or RS485.

Two MPP trackers with one string each accept 18A, up to 1000V and a 150–850V tracking range, so the PV array can reach twice the rated AC power in access power. Grid-to-load pass-through is 35A, and off-grid the inverter supplies 1.5 times its rated power for 10 seconds with fully unbalanced output across the phases.

Key features

Battery charging and discharging follow six time periods, with Selling First, Zero Export to Load and Zero Export to CT work modes. The GEN port takes a diesel generator, drives a smart load or receives AC-coupled on-grid inverters. Signal terminals include a G-start contact for the generator, dry contacts, a 12V RSD output with shutdown inputs and a DRM port. The 5–10kW models are naturally cooled and run at 45dB or less.

Installation and compatibility

The unit hangs on a wall up to 2000m altitude, with about 50cm free around it and 100cm in front. Deye recommends 50A breakers on the grid and backup ports for all sizes, a DC protection device on the battery line and 6mm² battery cable. Three 100A/50mA CTs are supplied; for CT runs over 10m, or currents above 100A in parallel systems, Deye recommends a smart meter.

Parallel systems of up to 10 inverters must use the same model, each with its own lithium battery from Deye's approved battery list, and the Zero Export to CT mode. The datasheet lists IEC 61727, IEC 62116, CEI 0-21, EN 50549, NRS 097, RD 140, UNE 217002, OVE-Richtlinie R25, G99 and VDE-AR-N 4105, and Deye publishes country certificates such as VDE-AR-N 4105 and EN 50549.

Monitoring and settings

The LCD with LED status lights gives access to battery, work mode, grid and GEN port settings. Interfaces are RS485, RS232 and CAN, and monitoring through Deye Cloud uses an optional GPRS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G or LAN logger. Operating range is -40 to 60°C with derating above 45°C. The warranty is 5 years, extendable to 10 years depending on the installation country.

Questions and answers

What is the difference between the DM2 and AM2 versions?

The DM2 is smaller and lighter (376×470×244.5mm, 24kg) and covers 5–12kW with 37A battery current and 35A pass-through. The AM2 covers 5–25kW in a 30.5kg housing with up to 50A battery current and 80A pass-through.

Does the inverter need a fan?

The 5, 6, 8 and 10kW models are naturally cooled; the 12kW model uses intelligent air cooling. Noise is 45dB or less.

Which battery voltage is required?

A lithium-ion battery with a voltage between 160 and 700V. Lead-acid batteries cannot be used, and parallel systems need batteries from Deye's approved list.

Which AC breakers does Deye recommend?

50A on both the grid port and the backup load port for all DM2 models, certified to IEC 60947-1 and IEC 60947-2.
