Overview

SE-F12 Max-H is Deye's 12.03kWh low-voltage battery in an IP65 enclosure with built-in heating, so it can be installed outdoors and charged from -20°C. It stores 235Ah at 51.2V and accepts 230A continuous charge and discharge, with 280A peaks for 10 seconds and 11.8kW maximum output. The 93kg pack of 464×767×244.5mm has an LCD, Bluetooth, a built-in circuit breaker and a 10-year warranty, and up to 32 units can be paralleled on a low-voltage hybrid or off-grid inverter.

  • 51.2V LiFePO4, 12.03kWh (235Ah) or 16kWh (314Ah)
  • IP65 enclosure for indoor and outdoor installation
  • -H versions heat the cells to charge from -20°C
  • Up to 11.8kW output, 230A continuous discharge
  • Built-in circuit breaker, LCD and Bluetooth
  • 10-year warranty, 32 packs in parallel

How it works

SE-F12 Max and SE-F16 Max are single-pack low-voltage batteries with lithium iron phosphate cells, a nominal 51.2V and a 44.8–57.6V operating window. The BMS monitors the cells, controls charge and discharge and works with a built-in circuit breaker that opens on abnormal current. An LCD shows state of charge and error codes, and the pack reports its limits to the inverter over CAN 2.0 or RS485.

The -H models add cell heating: with heating on, charging is allowed from -20°C instead of 0°C, while discharge works from -20 to 55°C on all versions. SE-F12 Max-H holds 235Ah (12.03kWh) and accepts 230A both ways. SE-F16 Max-H holds 314Ah (16kWh), discharges at 230A and charges at up to 160A. Both list 11.8kW maximum output and 95% DC round-trip efficiency.

Key features

The IP65 housing with pressure-equalising air vent valve lets the packs work indoors or outdoors, preferably out of direct sun, rain and snow. Deye rates SE-F12 Max for at least 6000 cycles and SE-F16 Max for at least 8000 cycles to 70% end of life, with 37MWh and 50MWh energy throughput, and grants 10 years of warranty under its warranty letter. SE-F16 Max also lists UL 9540A testing alongside UN38.3, CE and CB.

Installation and compatibility

Packs are floor-mounted 20–25mm from a solid wall with L-shaped lugs, hung on a wall plate, or stacked up to four layers with the optional kit; wheels are available for moving them. The manual lists clearances of 200mm and 150mm around the unit, corrosion class C3 (sites more than 5km from the coast) and up to 3000m altitude. Cables enter from either side to a central wiring area with M8 terminals tightened to 12–19N·m.

Up to 32 packs run in parallel, or 64 with a CAN-Bridge. A bank is daisy-chained from OUT to IN and the master pack connects to the inverter through its PCS port. One inverter can serve several packs, or several inverters can share a DC bus; in that case Deye asks for a maintenance switch or fuse that disconnects both poles between each inverter and the bus.

Monitoring and settings

A built-in Bluetooth Low Energy module links each pack to the Deye Cloud app for local commissioning, parameter setting, live data and fault diagnosis without internet access. When the battery runs with a Deye inverter connected to Deye Cloud, pack data appear on the inverter's system page and firmware can be updated remotely. Depth of discharge is adjustable: Deye recommends 90%, with up to 95% on SE-F12 Max and 100% on SE-F16 Max.

Questions and answers

What does the -H suffix mean?

The -H versions have built-in heating. With heating on they can be charged from -20°C, while versions without heating need at least 0°C to charge. Discharge range is -20 to 55°C for both.

Can the battery be installed outdoors?

Yes. The enclosure is IP65 and Deye allows indoor and outdoor installation. To extend service life, the manual advises avoiding direct sunlight, direct rain and snow cover, and keeping the unit more than 5km from the coastline.

How much power can one pack deliver?

Deye lists 11.8kW maximum output for both models. Continuous discharge is 230A with 280A peaks for 10 seconds; charging is 230A on SE-F12 Max and 160A on SE-F16 Max.

How many packs can be combined?

Up to 32 in parallel, or 64 with Deye's CAN-Bridge. Packs can be stacked up to four layers with the optional stacking kit, or wall- and floor-mounted side by side.

Is the depth of discharge fixed?

No. Deye recommends 90%, and the setting can be raised to 95% on SE-F12 Max and to 100% on SE-F16 Max.
