Overview

The S6-EH3P15K-H delivers 15kW on a three-phase 400V connection, with four MPP trackers of 20A each for large or multi-orientation roofs. Solis recommends up to 30kW of PV, with 24kW usable. The battery port handles 15kW at up to 50A over a 120–800V range, and the backup output carries 1.6 times rated power for 10 seconds. A three-phase generator, existing PV inverter or smart loads can use the third AC port.

How it works

The S6-EH3P(12-20)K-H is a transformerless three-phase hybrid inverter that Solis positions for large residential and small commercial PV storage systems. It has a PV input with four MPP trackers, a high-voltage battery port, a grid port, a backup port and a third AC port that can serve a generator, a third-party grid-tied inverter or non-critical smart loads. An Eastron SDM630MCT meter with CTs is supplied for self-use, feed-in priority and off-grid operation.

Each tracker accepts 20A with a 30A short-circuit limit, which matches high-current modules, and Solis recommends a PV array of up to twice the AC rating, of which 1.6 times is usable. The battery port works from 120V to 800V with up to 50A charge and discharge current.

Backup, generator and smart loads

If the grid fails, the backup port takes over in under 10ms for a single inverter, or under 20ms for a parallel system of up to six units. The backup output tolerates 100% phase imbalance, with each phase limited to 40% of rated power. A three-phase diesel generator can be connected to the generator port or through an ATS on the grid side; the system starts it when the battery reaches a set state of charge and stops it once the battery is recharged.

When the third port is used as a smart-load output, critical loads stay on the backup port while non-critical loads on the third port are switched on and off according to battery state of charge or voltage set by the installer. Backup load plus smart load must not exceed the rated power.

Installation and compatibility

The inverter weighs 35.2kg and is fan-cooled, so it is mounted vertically on a wall or a structure strong enough for its weight, with at least 300mm to other objects and ideally 500mm in front for service. Solis recommends a four-pole 63A breaker on the AC side and a two-pole 63A breaker on the battery side. Units of different power cannot be paralleled, and each inverter needs its own battery.

Approved batteries are listed in the Solis battery matching list, including BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM, Pylontech Force H1/H2, Dyness Tower and SolisStorage FlexHome-H. In Italy, Solis publishes CEI 0-21 certificates for this series combined with Pylontech Force-H1 and BYD HVS batteries.

Monitoring and grid codes

A 7in LCD display, Bluetooth with the SolisCloud app, Wi-Fi and LAN are built in, with CAN for the battery, RS485 for the meter, two parallel ports, DRM and three digital outputs. Firmware and settings can be managed remotely through SolisCloud. Listed grid codes include EN 50549-1/-10, VDE-AR-N 4105, CEI 0-21, CEI 0-16, NC RfG type B and G99.
