Overview

The S6-EH3P10K-LV-ND-H is the 10kW model of the Solis hybrid series for three-phase grids with 220V or 230V between phases. Its four MPP trackers take 16A each at up to 1000V; Solis recommends up to 20kW of PV, of which 16kW is usable. A high-voltage lithium battery from 120V to 800V charges and discharges at up to 50A and 10kW. The backup output takes over in under 10ms and each phase can supply 40% of rated power. A generator, smart loads or an existing three-phase PV inverter can be connected to the third AC port.

  • 8, 10 and 12kW for 3/(N)/PE 127/220V or 133/230V grids
  • 4 MPPT, 1000V max. PV input
  • HV battery 120–800V, 50A charge/discharge
  • Backup switch-over under 10ms
  • Generator, smart-load and AC-coupling port
  • Up to 6 units in parallel, IP66

How it works

The S6-EH3P(8-12)K-LV-ND-H is a transformerless three-phase hybrid inverter built for low-voltage three-phase networks with 220V or 230V between phases, rather than the usual 400V. PV power from four MPP trackers supplies the loads, charges a high-voltage lithium battery between 120V and 800V and exports the surplus. Self-use, feed-in priority and off-grid modes are available, and a time-of-use function schedules charging and discharging.

Solis recommends a PV array of up to twice the AC rating, with 1.6 times usable. The 8kW and 10kW models accept 16A per tracker, the 12kW model 20A. Three CTs are supplied for measuring power at the grid connection point; a version with an Eastron SDM630MCT meter is also offered.

Backup, generator and smart loads

When the grid fails the backup port takes over in under 10ms, or under 20ms in a parallel system of up to six inverters. Each phase can supply up to 40% of rated power, so unbalanced loads are possible within that limit. The generator port accepts a three-phase generator up to the rated power; a generator on the grid side is connected through an ATS and needs the CT or meter.

The same port can feed non-critical smart loads that are switched by battery state of charge or voltage, or take a three-phase grid-tied PV inverter up to the hybrid's rated power for AC coupling. SG Ready heat pumps can be controlled directly.

Installation and compatibility

The housing is IP66, measures 563×546×235mm and is fan-cooled; Solis asks for 300mm around each inverter and about 500mm in front. Recommended protection is a four-pole 63A AC breaker and a two-pole 63A battery breaker with fault-current interrupting capacity rated for 800V. In a parallel system all inverters must be the same model, each with its own battery, and parallel cables must not exceed 5m.

Battery ports cannot be paralleled: each battery connects to its own inverter through a separate CAN line and is managed by that inverter. Grid connection standards listed in the datasheet are EN 50549-1/-10, VDE-AR-N 4105 and REN342, and the declared operating altitude is up to 2000m. Compatible battery brands and models are given in the Solis battery matching list.

Monitoring and settings

Operation is shown by LED indicators and set up through Bluetooth in the SolisCloud app. Wi-Fi and LAN are standard, together with CAN for the battery BMS, two parallel CAN ports, an RS485 meter port, RS485, DRM, a digital input and three digital outputs. A data logging stick is in the box; Solis recommends one per inverter in parallel systems so firmware can be updated remotely.

Questions and answers

Can this inverter be used on a normal 400V three-phase supply?

No. The LV-ND-H models are rated for three-phase grids of 127/220V or 133/230V. For 230/400V supplies Solis offers the S6-EH3P K-H and ND-H models.

How much power can one phase supply?

According to the datasheet each phase can deliver up to 40% of the inverter's rated power, on the grid and backup side.

Can I connect a diesel generator?

Yes. A three-phase generator up to the rated power can be connected to the generator port, which then supplies only the backup loads, or through an ATS on the grid side, which requires the CT or meter.

Is a meter included?

Three 120A CTs are supplied as standard. Solis also offers a meter kit with an Eastron SDM630MCT, and a separate 300A/5A kit for systems with more than three inverters in parallel.
