Overview

A residential three-phase kit of 9.44kWp with the SolarEdge SE8K-RW0TEBEN4 inverter, 16 power optimisers (one per module) and DC and AC protection boxes. The inverter delivers 8000VA and accepts up to 10800W of module power, while the optimisers track and monitor each module on its own, which reduces losses from partial shading and mismatch. Commissioning takes place with the SetApp application.

How the system works

SolarEdge separates module-level power tracking from DC/AC conversion. Every module is connected to its own power optimiser, which tracks the module's maximum power point and reports its data; the optimisers in a string then feed a fixed-voltage inverter. The datasheet describes the three-phase Home Wave inverter as specifically designed to work with power optimisers, allowing longer strings and monitoring of each module.

Inverter data

The SE8K delivers 8000VA at 380/220V or 400/230V, three-phase with neutral, with a maximum continuous current of 13A per phase. It accepts up to 10800W of module STC power, 900V maximum input voltage, 750V nominal DC input and 13.5A input current, with ground-fault isolation detection at 700kΩ sensitivity. SolarEdge quotes 98% maximum and 97.6% European weighted efficiency, and the datasheet lists the inverter as battery-ready in the countries where this option is offered.

Installation

The inverter weighs 16.4kg, measures 540×315×191mm, is rated IP65 for indoor and outdoor installation and works from -40 to +60°C with derating, using an internal fan with noise below 40dBA. DC input uses two MC4 pairs and the AC cable gland takes 15–21mm diameter. Commissioning is done with the SolarEdge SetApp mobile application over the inverter's built-in Wi-Fi access point.

Monitoring and what to add

RS485 and Ethernet are standard, with ZigBee, Wi-Fi, cellular and SolarEdge Home Network as options. The inverter supports export limitation and home energy management. The kit includes the inverter, modules, optimisers and DC and AC protection boxes; the installer adds the mounting structure, string and AC cabling, the export meter where required and the grid connection paperwork.
