SOFAR 3.6KTLM-G33.68kW single-phase string inverter, 2 MPPT

Overview

The SOFAR 3.6KTLM-G3 is a 3.68kW single-phase string inverter with two MPP trackers, each taking one string at up to 15A and 3500W. Rated and maximum AC output are identical at 3680W and 3680VA, with 16A output current. The manual recommends up to 5400Wp of PV, with full output between 200 and 500V and a 600V maximum input. Maximum efficiency is 98.2%; the fanless unit weighs 9.2kg and needs a 25A breaker.

How it works

Two independent trackers each take one string at up to 15A (22.5A short-circuit), working between 80 and 550V with a 90V start-up voltage and a 600V maximum input. Strings of different orientation or length can therefore be connected to separate trackers. SOFAR allows up to 150% DC oversizing, and the manual recommends a maximum PV power from 4500Wp on the 3KTLM-G3 to 9000Wp on the 6KTLM-G3.

Key features

Maximum efficiency is 98.2% on the 3–4kW models and 98.4% from 4.6kW, with European efficiencies of 97.3% and 97.5%. Protection covers reverse polarity, anti-islanding, leakage current and ground fault monitoring, string fault monitoring, an integrated DC switch and Type III surge protection on PV and AC. The inverters are transformerless and fanless, rated IP65 for -30…+60°C, and weigh 9.2kg up to 4kW and 10kg above.

Installation and compatibility

Each inverter needs its own breaker with no loads in between: 20A for the 3KTLM-G3, 25A for the 3.6 and 4kW models and 32A for the larger ones, with copper cable of at least 6mm² up to 4kW and 10mm² from 4.6kW. Grid current is measured with a CT (default) or with a meter plus CT, enabling zero export or an adjustable export limit. Up to 31 inverters can share an RS485 daisy chain.

SOFAR publishes certificates for VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, C10/11 and TOR Erzeuger Type A, and the datasheet also lists G98/G99, UNE 217002 and ANRE 208. The country menu includes CEI 0-21 and CEI 0-16 settings for Italy. A logic interface lets a ripple control receiver reduce output on command from the grid operator.

Monitoring and settings

Setup is possible on the LCD or over Bluetooth with the app. With an optional Wi-Fi, GPRS or Ethernet stick logger, generation, alarms and status are uploaded for web and app monitoring; the user manual refers to the SolarMAN platform. Firmware updates and country settings can be loaded from a USB drive.
