Who we areNew, original SMA products with full manufacturer warranty, supplied with their documentation.
The SB4.0-1AV-41 delivers 4000W single-phase from up to 7.5kWp of PV, connected to two MPP trackers with two strings each and an MPP window of 140–500V. Rated output current is 17.4A (18.2A max.) and European efficiency 96.5%. The 435×470×176mm housing weighs 17.5kg and runs at a typical 25dB(A). Integrated arc-fault detection, I-V diagnostics and dynamic feed-in limitation with an SMA Energy Meter are included.
The Sunny Boy SBx.x-1AV-41 range converts PV power to single-phase AC through two independent MPP trackers, each accepting two strings with 15A usable input current. Feed-in starts at 125V and the MPP window extends to 500V, with 600V maximum and 365V rated input voltage. Inputs A and B can also be run in parallel for several parallel-connected strings; in that case the arc-fault function cannot be used. SMA ShadeFix re-evaluates the operating point, by default every six minutes, to limit shading losses.
SMA ArcFix, an arc-fault circuit interrupter, detects DC arcs in modules and string wiring and interrupts them; it is disabled by default and enabled when required. An I-V and P-V diagnostic function helps check strings. All models share a 435×470×176mm, 17.5kg IP65 housing cooled by convection at a typical 25dB(A), with 5W night-time consumption and operation from -25 to +60°C. Maximum efficiency is 97.0% across the range, with European efficiency of 96.4–96.6%.
PV strings connect with SUNCLIX connectors and the grid with a plug-in AC connector for 220, 230 or 240V. No external RCD is needed for the inverter; where one is required, type A or B devices of 30mA or higher are compatible, one per inverter. Maximum PV array power is 5.5kWp for the 3.0 and 3.6 models, 7.5kWp for 4.0 and 5.0, and 9kWp for the 6.0. With an SMA Energy Meter or Sunny Home Manager, feed-in limits and energy management can be added.
The inverter is commissioned via its web interface over Ethernet or WLAN (depending on availability) and also offers RS485. SMA Smart Connected monitors the device free of charge in Sunny Portal and informs the operator and installer of faults, in countries including Italy. Approvals include CEI 0-21, VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, C10/11, G98/G99, TOR Erzeuger type A, RD1699 and UTE C15-712. The warranty can be extended from 5 to 10 years by registration.
This page covers the current SBx.x-1AV-41 version, which includes the SMA ArcFix arc-fault circuit interrupter and I-V/P-V diagnostics according to SMA's datasheet. Always check the type label for the exact version supplied.
Yes. Each of the two inputs accepts two strings, with 15A usable and 20A short-circuit current per input.
No. SMA ArcFix is disabled by default and can be activated in the inverter. It requires inputs A and B not to be operated in parallel.
Under VDE-AR-N 4105 the SB5.0-1AV-41 is set to 4600W / 4600VA, as noted in SMA's datasheet. Other country settings allow the full 5000W.
The datasheet lists CEI 0-21 for the whole range, and SMA Smart Connected is available in Italy.
