Overview

SigenStack BAT 12.0 is the 12.06kWh lithium iron phosphate module of Sigenergy's commercial SigenStack system. Modules weigh 105kg each and stack up to seven high on a base, with a SigenStack BC controller on the main stack. One Sigen PV M1-HYA or M1-HYB hybrid inverter takes 4 to 21 modules, from 48.24kWh to 253kWh; four modules make a 1,643mm, 500kg stack. Nominal rate is 0.5C and maximum 1C, so the BC version chosen (0.5C or 1C) sets the charge and discharge current.

  • 12.06kWh SigenStack BAT 12.0 modules, 314Ah LFP cells
  • 4–21 modules per inverter, up to 253kWh
  • Up to 7 modules per stack, 0.5C nominal, 1C max.
  • Aerosol fire suppression, smoke sensor and exhaust
  • IP66, smart air cooling, -20…+55°C
  • DC-coupled to Sigen PV M1-HYA and M1-HYB inverters

How it works

SigenStack is the DC-coupled battery system for Sigenergy's commercial hybrid inverters, the Sigen PV M1-HYA and M1-HYB series. Each stack stands on its own base and holds one to seven SigenStack BAT 12.0 modules. The main stack is topped by a SigenStack BC battery controller that connects to the inverter's battery port; further sub stacks carry a cover instead. One inverter accepts 4 to 21 modules, from 48.24kWh up to 253kWh.

The BC-BST controllers include a DC-DC boost converter and are required for PV storage systems, AC voltages above 400V, HYB inverters and HYA pure-storage systems with up to 19 modules. The plain BC M2-0.5C is only for HYA pure-storage systems with 20 or more modules on a 380/400V grid without PV. SigenStack cannot be combined with Sigenergy's residential SigenStor devices.

Key features

Each BAT 12.0 module stores 12.06kWh in 314Ah lithium iron phosphate cells, weighs 105kg and measures 770×300×363mm. Nominal rate is 0.5C, maximum 1C; the controller handles 180A between 550 and 1,100V, with 157A or 314A nominal battery current depending on the 0.5C or 1C version. Balancing works at pack level, so no on-site SOC calibration is needed, and each stack has aerosol fire suppression, a smoke sensor and an exhaust system.

Installation and compatibility

Stacks are floor-standing on concrete or another non-combustible, level base with no more than 3mm unevenness, raised at least 200mm above ground and above local flood level. Sigenergy recommends 1,500mm free space in front for forklifts or lifting tools and a protective earth cable of at least 25mm² on the main base. A seven-module stack weighs 815kg and stands 2,543mm tall including base and controller.

When PV and storage share the inverter, string open-circuit voltage must exceed 935V with 21 modules, 870V with 20 and 805V with 19; with 4 to 18 modules there is no extra requirement. Operating limits are -20…+55°C, 0–100% humidity and 4,000m, with derating above 2,000m. Ambient temperature must not rise by more than 5°C because of the equipment.

Monitoring and settings

The storage is commissioned with the inverter in the mySigen app and monitored on Sigen Cloud, where the C&I system can run self-consumption, time-based control, full feed-in, Sigen AI mode or remote EMS control by a third-party controller. Noise stays below 65dB at rated conditions, and the IP66 design is intended to avoid regular maintenance of wear parts.

Questions and answers

How many SigenStack modules can one inverter use?

Between 4 and 21 SigenStack BAT 12.0 modules, i.e. 48.24kWh to 253kWh, spread over stacks of up to seven modules each.

Which battery controller do I need?

A BC-BST version (M2-0.5C-BST or M2-1C-BST, or the -L variants) for PV storage systems, HYB inverters and most HYA systems. The plain BC M2-0.5C is only allowed for HYA pure-storage systems with 20 or more modules on a 380/400V grid without PV.

Can SigenStack be used with SigenStor home inverters?

No. Sigenergy states that SigenStack cannot currently be integrated with SigenStor series devices; it is designed for the Sigen C&I hybrid inverter series.

Is fire protection included?

Yes. The system data list an aerosol fire suppression unit together with a smoke sensor and an exhaust system for each stack.
