Overview

Quasar Glass Complete is the largest Glass package, built for a 12V battery system. Its standard bundle of nine products combines Quasar Glass 4, the Glass Router, STAR-Power switching, a Victron SmartShunt 500A, SmartSolar MPPT 100/30, Orion XS 12/12-50A, a Blue Smart IP22 12/30 mains charger and two STAR-Tank radar sensors. Glass reads the Victron devices over Bluetooth without a GX. Charger sizes, tank count and controller can be changed; the mains supply must be installed by a licensed electrician.

How it works

Quasar Glass is Safiery's touchscreen layer for boats, vans and caravans. Every panel, from the 4-inch Glass 4 to the 10.1-inch and 13.3-inch models, runs the same Quasar display application: swipeable pages of 2×2 tiles for switching, a Power page for Victron equipment, and pages for tanks, temperature and air, tyres and angle and cameras that appear as those options are added. Panels can be given roles such as galley, dash, bed or door.

Two platforms share the same glass. Quasar Glass Bluetooth works locally without internet: STAR controllers, STAR-Tank sensors, Ruuvi sensors and Victron Instant Readout broadcasts talk to the panel directly. Power and Vision adds the Quasar Glass Router, a Victron Cerbo GX for control of the inverter/charger and shore current limit, live IP camera streams and remote access through the router's 4G connection; the Cerbo GX and cameras are specified separately.

Packages and options

Safiery groups the hardware into five starting packages, each built on Glass 4: Solo for the panel alone, Tank with STAR-Tank radar sensors, Control with STAR-Light switching and the router, Power with STAR-Power, SmartShunt, SmartSolar MPPT and an Orion DC-DC charger, and Complete, which adds a mains battery charger and two tank sensors. Options include cameras, extra panels, wireless STAR switches and a STAR-Rover-4 CAN peer that reads a TPMS receiver, an inclinometer and Safiery batteries.

Installation and compatibility

Wireless replaces only the data cables: Glass needs a 9–24V DC supply, the router 9–36V DC and STAR-Light 10–32V DC, and every load is still wired to its controller channel. To read a Victron device, Instant Readout is enabled in VictronConnect and the device's Bluetooth address and encryption key are entered once in Glass. Supported devices include SmartSolar MPPT, SmartShunt, BMV-712 Smart, Orion XS, Orion-Tr Smart, Smart BatteryProtect and Blue Smart IP22 and IP65 chargers.

Network and app

The Glass Router runs the kit's own private network, with STAR controllers on 2.4GHz, panels and cameras on 5GHz, WPA3 security and a Cerbo GX connected by Ethernet. Kits ordered against a kit code are paired at Safiery's bench before dispatch. The free Quasar Glass App for Android 10 and iOS 15 or later shows the same tiles on a phone, locally over 5GHz or remotely through 4G once a SIM is fitted; remote support connections are outbound only.
