9.44kWp of PV with the Hoymiles HIT-8L-G3, an 8kW three-phase hybrid inverter for 40–60V batteries, and one or two Hoymiles LB-15D-G3 batteries (14.9kWh designed energy each, sold as 15 or 30kWh), plus DC and AC protection boxes. How the kit works

The HIT-8L-G3 converts PV power from three MPPT inputs of up to 1000V, charges a 40–60V battery at up to 190A and supplies a 380/400V three-phase grid connection. A separate EPS output keeps selected loads running during a grid failure, switching over in less than 10ms. Each phase can be controlled on its own, so unbalanced household loads are supported, and Hoymiles allows DC/AC oversizing up to 200%.

Battery

Hoymiles' European warranty terms list the LB-15D-G3 with 14.9kWh designed energy and usable energy defined at 90% depth of discharge, with a 10-year warranty that guarantees 70% of designed energy or 42MWh of throughput. Hoymiles' compatible battery list (REV3.10) names the LB-6D-G3, LB-10D-G3 and LB-16D-G3 for the HIT-(5-20)L-G3; the LB-15D-G3 pairing should be confirmed with Hoymiles before ordering.

Installation and what to add

The inverter weighs 41kg in an IP66 enclosure and needs 500mm of clearance around it, mounted vertically or tilted back by no more than 15°. Hoymiles supplies a smart meter with three CTs, a DTS data stick and a battery temperature sensor with the inverter, and recommends a type A RCD and 10mm² copper for grid, EPS and GEN cables. The kit adds protection boxes; mounting structures, battery cabling and the grid connection request remain with the installer.

Monitoring and settings

The DTS stick links the system to S-Miles Cloud, where production, battery state and consumption can be followed remotely. Working modes include self-consumption, economy, backup, peak shaving and time-of-use with up to eight schedules, all set in the S-Miles app together with export management, unbalance control, dry contacts and generator control. Up to 10 inverters can be paralleled.
