Hoymiles HYS-4.6LV-EUG14.6kW single-phase low-voltage hybrid inverter

Overview

The HYS-4.6LV-EUG1 is a 4600W single-phase hybrid inverter for 230V homes with a 40–60V battery. It charges and discharges at up to 100A (4600W), takes up to 7500W of PV on two 14A MPPT inputs with strings up to 550V, and can draw up to 7360W from the grid. Its backup output delivers 4600W continuously and 9200VA for 10s, switching in under 10ms. It is naturally cooled, rated IP65 and listed by Hoymiles for CEI 0-21 and VDE-AR-N 4105.

How it works

HYS-LV-EUG1 inverters connect a PV array, a 40–60V battery and a 230V single-phase grid. PV strings up to 550V are tracked between 125V and 500V by two MPPTs of 14A each (one on the 3.0kW model), and the PV array may be up to 150% of the AC rating. The battery port takes lithium-ion batteries that talk to the inverter over CAN, or lead-acid batteries with a three-stage charging curve, although Hoymiles does not recommend lead-acid for general customers.

Three energy management modes are available: Self-consumption stores surplus PV and covers the home from the battery, Economy charges and discharges by tariff period, and Backup keeps a battery reserve for outages. When the grid fails, loads on the EPS output are supplied within 10ms. Export to the grid can be limited, and a built-in dry contact can be assigned to an earth-fault alarm, load control or generator control.

Installation and compatibility

Mount the 24kg, 502×461×202mm housing vertically or tilted back by up to 15°, with at least 300mm above, 500mm below and 200mm at each side. It is rated IP65, cooled by natural convection and specified for 2000m altitude, with derating above 45°C. The delivery includes a smart meter with CT, a battery temperature sensor and a data transfer stick (Wi-Fi, Ethernet or 4G version), plus PV, battery, grid, EPS and generator connectors.

Hoymiles' compatible battery list for this series includes its own LB-6D-G3, LB-10D-G3, LB-16D-G3 and LB-S-G2 batteries and models from BYD, Dyness, Pylontech, Pytes, Zetara and other makers, each with a minimum battery firmware. The datasheet lists EN 50549, VDE-AR-N 4105, VFR 2019, TOR Erzeuger Type A, RD 647, NTS, CEI 0-21 and C10/11 Type A grid compliance, covering, among others, Italy, Germany, Austria, Spain, France and Belgium.

Monitoring and parallel systems

The data transfer stick links the inverter to S-Miles Cloud for remote monitoring of PV, battery, grid and load flows, and settings are made in the S-Miles app: working mode, export management, battery parameters, dry contact and generator control. Up to 10 inverters can be connected in parallel. The same user manual covers the HAS-LV-EUG1 models, AC-coupled versions without PV input used to add a battery to an existing PV system.
