Overview

14.16kWp of PV with the Fronius Symo GEN24 12.0 Plus SC and a Reserva Pro tower of four or six 3.98kWh modules (15.92 or 23.88kWh), plus the Fronius Smart Meter and DC and AC protection boxes. The SC generation adds integrated Arc Guard arc detection, accepts up to 18kWp of PV with 28A on the first MPPT and charges the battery at up to 11.7kW. Full Backup reaches 4,225VA per phase once a Fronius Backup Controller is fitted.

How the kits work

The Symo GEN24 Plus inverter converts the PV field, charges a DC-coupled Fronius battery and supplies the building and grid. A Fronius Smart Meter measures the grid exchange so the inverter can store surplus instead of exporting it. Reserva and Reserva Pro are stackable towers of a base, battery modules and a BMS on top; the BMS talks to the inverter over RS485 or Modbus and the state of charge appears in Fronius Solar.web.

Inverter and battery pairing

The 7.08kWp kit uses the Symo GEN24 6.0 Plus with a Reserva tower of two or three 3.15kWh modules (6.3 or 9.45kWh). The 14.16kWp kit uses the Symo GEN24 12.0 Plus SC, the updated generation with integrated Arc Guard arc detection and up to 18kWp of PV, with a Reserva Pro tower of four or six 3.98kWh modules (15.92 or 23.88kWh). Fronius approves Reserva with 2–5 modules and Reserva Pro with 3–8 modules on these inverters.

Backup functions

Every GEN24 has PV Point, a single-phase 3kVA emergency circuit that restarts about 15 seconds after a grid failure while PV or battery power is available. The 6.0 Plus and 12.0 Plus SC also support three-phase Full Backup at rated power, with a switching time of about 10 seconds, once a Fronius Backup Controller or Backup Switch and the related protection are installed; these parts are not part of the kits.

Installation and what to add

Reserva and Reserva Pro are IP65 and can be installed indoors or in protected outdoor areas from -20°C, with 300mm recommended on each side; DC cables to the inverter may run up to 30m (Reserva) or 40m (Reserva Pro). Fronius recommends a 16A or 32A automatic breaker for the 6.0 and 12.0 respectively. The installer adds mounting structures, string cabling, Full Backup components if wanted and the grid connection request.
