Overview

A configurable storage kit without PV modules: a Deye SUN-SG05LP3-EU-SM2 three-phase hybrid inverter from 8 to 20kW, one to four Deye SE-F16 packs of 16kWh each, in the standard version or the heated IP65 Max-H, and the DC connection between them. From two packs upward a Victron Lynx Distributor with one MEGA fuse per circuit joins packs and inverter, and the 1m inverter cables follow Deye's cable table. The 56 variants combine seven inverter sizes, two battery versions and one to four packs, from 16kWh to 64kWh.

What the kit contains

The buyer chooses the inverter, the battery version and the number of packs. The inverter is a Deye SUN-8K, 10K, 14K, 15K, 16K, 18K or 20K-SG05LP3-EU-SM2, a three-phase hybrid with two MPP trackers and a 40–60V battery port. The battery is the Deye SE-F16 (314Ah, 51.2V, 16kWh) with LCD, or the SE-F16 Max-H, its IP65 version with cell heating. With two or more packs, a Victron Lynx Distributor joins them, with a MEGA fuse for each pack and each inverter cable pair.

Each Lynx Distributor has four fuse positions on a 1000A busbar, so a second unit is bolted on when packs and inverter cable pairs exceed four. The 14–20kW inverters have two battery inputs and are wired with two cable pairs. A single pack on the 8kW or 10kW model is connected directly through an in-line MEGA fuse holder.

Inverter and battery currents

Deye lists a maximum charge and discharge current of 190A for the 8kW, 210A for the 10kW, 260A for the 14kW, 280A for the 15kW, 300A for the 16kW, 330A for the 18kW and 350A for the 20kW model. One SE-F16 accepts up to 160A of charge and 230A of discharge current, with 157A recommended. With a single pack the battery therefore sets the charge limit on every model; two packs reach 320A of charge and 460A of discharge, three packs 480A and 690A.

Installation and compatibility

Deye requires a separate DC overcurrent device between battery and inverter and gives battery cable sections of 42mm² for the 8–12kW models, 50mm² for 14–16kW and 70mm² for 18–20kW, at 24.5Nm. The standard SE-F16 is IP21 and belongs in a clean, dry, ventilated indoor room more than 5km from the coast; only the Max-H version is approved for outdoor use. The Lynx Distributor is IP22, so it must be mounted indoors or in a protective enclosure, and Victron specifies 58V-rated MEGA fuses for 48V systems.

Monitoring and what to add

The Lynx Distributor lights a red LED when a fuse blows only if its fuse detection is powered with 5V, normally from a Lynx Shunt VE.Can or Lynx Smart BMS through the RJ10 cable; neither is part of this kit. Battery data appear in Deye Cloud through the inverter's logger, and the packs pair over Bluetooth with the Deye Cloud app. The installer adds PV modules and their DC protection, AC breakers and residual-current device, earthing, the energy meter and the grid connection paperwork.
